these days. she should be, she's a nice lady. but the biggest reason for the smiley faces on all her communiques is the fact that this is a presidential election year. and the two major parties are flush with cash. which means so are we. so is this station. so is every other station in this market. and throughout much of the country in fact. i, on the other hand, am not so happy. in fact, i am sick to death of all those campaign ads, and all those people looking me straight in the camera in the eye, dripping with gravitas, telling me what i should think or do or not do or whatever. and here in the d.c. market, adding insult to injury are the questions. especially the gambling thing. a couple nights ago, one single commercial break, i had to endure two presidential campaign ads, three from senate candidates, and two back-to-back on question 7. the darn thing ran so long i forgot what i was watching. here's the problem. there is no more light in those things, only heat. actually, worse than heat. it's noise. discordant, unbearably annoying noise. it's my observation people who run camp
find him just a little too smirky, a little too aggressive, a little too rude, a little too smiley at inappropriate points. so that was definitely a better piece on the golly locks style than the president had it, but i'm still looking for that just right moment. >> now karen, you wrote that it was a do over as much as a debate. >> it was. >> discuss. >> well, i think that, you know, he was out there as much as anything, he was out there to try to undo some of the damage from president obama's own disappointing performance and he had two audiences. he had the disspirited democratic base who probably was thrilled to see him feisty and fighting, but i agree with ruth, for that slice of the electorate that is potentially on the fence here, or was feeling a little, you know, upset and leaning toward romney as a result of that earlier debate it may have come off as his manner may have come off as either disrespectful or at worse ba foonish. >> michael, what about paul ryan and his approach? was he, you know, too cold, compared to biden's heat, or just right? >> it was a little bit cold
'm not sure what it looks like. >> it's a smiley face. >> all right. i can do that. >>> clayton, you wonder about getting your plants inside. the first real freeze of the season across the ohio valley, parts of michigan and pennsylvania. tonight into tomorrow morning, very cold night and it might be the end of growing season for a lot of people. as you wake up, you see this cold pocket into the northern plains. 23 in rapid city, 28 in denver. cold air across texas. in texas, you're not going to warm up much today as the sun shines because the temps are so cold. this rain is bringing scattered showers towards the mid-atlantic. the northeast, light showers and not scattered. not big problems for the day. across the west, a ton of sunshine. we're in a very dry stretch in the northwest. the pattern continues. we have had .23 inches of rain. 73 today in seattle, warm across the southwest. still next couple of days into the 90's. a little bit of a break and warm up in the central plains. i got nervous with the perfection thing. you set me up. >> no, you hit the mark. >>> coming up on the show, an
